Pietro is the Lab Manager, responsible for the laboratory’s operational organization and he specializes in cellular biology and biochemistry. He joined the Iannacone Lab in 2010 after he worked at Roche Milano Ricerche and Bioxell.
Elisa BonoSenior Technician
Elisa is a senior molecular biology technician. She previously worked at Centro Cardiologico Monzino in Milan and Bioxcell. She joined Iannacone’s Lab in 2017.
Leonardo obtained his M.S. in Evolutionary Biology in 2009. He previously worked in a functional genomic and proteomic lab at La Sapienza University, Rome, Italy. He joined Iannacone’s Lab in 2016 and he is now working as molecular biology technician.
Mattia obtained his M.S. veterinary biotechnology in 2012. He worked with AriSLA in the Neurobiology department at Mario Negri Institute, Milan. He is responsible for animal care and mice husbandry in BSL3.
Marta obtained her Veterinary Medicine Degree in 2003. She joined Iannacone Lab in September 2008. She is responsible for animal care and mice husbandry in our pathogen-free mice facility.
Mirela KukaAssistant Professor
Mirela is a Young Investigator whose research activity focuses on antiviral immune responses. She obtained her PhD at University of Siena, Italy. She joined the Iannacone Lab in 2013 after postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute, NIH.
Federica MoalliPostdoctoral Fellow
Federica obtained a M.S. from Milan University in 2005 and a Ph.D. in Immunology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in 2009. She trained as a postdoc at University of Bern, Switzerland. She joined the Iannacone Lab in 2017 to work on CD8+ T dynamics cells within liver tumors.
Paola ZordanPostdoctoral Fellow
Paola obtained her PhD in Human Genetics at the University of Turin in 2005. She completed her first post-doc at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, in the Neural stem cell biology unit. She joined Iannacone Lab in 2017 to work on the generation of a chronic HBV mouse model.
Francesco AndreataPostdoctoral Fellow
He obtained his PhD in immunology at the University of Paris-Diderot in 2017. He trained as a postdoc at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences “L. Sacco” (Milan) and joined the Iannacone Lab in 2019 to work on CD8+ T cell immune responses within liver.
Xenia FichtPostdoctoral Fellow
Xenia obtained a M.S. in Molecular Medicine in 2013 from Ulm University, Germany. She obtained her PhD in Immunology in 2018 at the University of Bern, Switzerland. She joined the Iannacone Lab in 2019 and she is interested in characterizing T cell priming and dynamics in the liver.
Cristian BeccariaPostdoctoral Fellow
Cristian obtained a M.S. in Biochemistry in 2012 and a Ph.D. in Immunology at Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina in 2018. He joined the Iannacone Lab in 2019 to work on humoral immune responses in liver immunopathology during viral hepatitis.
Caroline KrugerPostdoctoral Fellow
Caroline obtained her M.S. in Molecular Medicine in 2014 at University of Freiburg (Germany) and PhD in Immunology in 2019 at University of Bern, Switzerland. She joined the lab in 2019 to focus on the deeper characterization of naive T cell priming events in the liver.
Micol RavàPostdoctoral Fellow
Micol obtained her M.S. at Milan University in 2010 and the Ph.D. in Molecular medicine at SEMM in 2015. She trained as a postdoc at European Institute of Oncology and joined the Iannacone Lab in 2019 to work on chronic HBV mouse model
Vito CucchiaraMD, Resident in Urology
He obtained his M.D. degree at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in 2014. He worked one year as research fellow at UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, California. He joined Iannacone’s Lab in 2018 to apply two-photon imaging techniques to prostate cancer research.
Valeria FumagalliPhD Student
Valeria obtained a M.S. from the University of Milano Bicocca in 2016. She joined Iannacone’s Lab as a PhD student in 2016 and she is interested in the role of innate lymphoid cells and B cells in HBV pathogenesis.
Giorgia De SimonePhD student
Giorgia obtained her M.S. from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in 2017. She joined Iannacone’s lab in 2016 as master student. Her research interests are the pathogenic mechanisms underlying liver immunopathology during viral hepatitis.
Eleonora SalaPhD student
Eleonora obtained her M.S in Medical Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine from Statale University (Milan) in 2018. She joined in 2018 and her research focuses on the characterization of T follicular helper cells upon viral infections.
Valentina VenzinPhD Student
Valentina obtained her B.S. in KU Leuven University (Belgium) and completed her M.S. at San Raffaele, Milan. She joined the Iannacone Lab as Ph.D. student in 2019 to work on CD4+T cell immune responses in HBV immunopathology.
Bianca PartiniPhD Student
Bianca obtained her M.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Università degli Studi di Siena (Siena) in 2019. She joined Iannacone’s Lab as a Ph.D. student in 2019 and her research focuses on the characterization of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes in the prostate cancer microenvironment through two-photon imaging techniques.
Chiara obtained her M.S. in Mathematics from Università degli Studi di Milano in 2017. She is working as a bioinformatician in Iannacone Lab, where she collaborates with wet-lab researchers especially by analyzing RNA sequencing and single-cell RNA sequencing data.
Stefano completed his M.S. in Moleculary Biotechnologies at Università degli Studi di Torino, while working as a Computational Biologist at the Molecular Biology Center in Turin. As of now, he is a Computational Biologist in Iannacone’s team, focusing on high-throughput RNAseq and single cell RNAseq data analysis.
Davide MarottaResearch Fellow
Davide obtained his B.S. at University of Florence in 2017 and his M.S at San Raffaele University in 2019. He joined Iannacone’s Lab in 2019 to work on a project that aims to investigate the role of CD8 T cells in hepatocellular carcinoma.

She completed her Master Degree at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in November 2018. She is currently working on a project that aims to investigate the role of CD8 T cells in hepatocellular carcinoma through the use of highly advanced imaging techniques.
